Program 02 — Swimming Proficiency

You Can Swim.
Now Get Efficient.

For swimmers who can already cover a length and tread water. Meet with a coach, define what you want to accomplish in the water, and we'll build a customized plan to get you there.

Where To Start

Can You Do This Already?

Swimming Proficiency picks up where Learn-to-Swim graduates. You're ready for it if you can already:

  • Swim one length of the pool, breathing to both sides of your stroke.
  • Tread water in the deep end for five minutes.

This is the program for fitness swimmers, triathletes working on the swim leg, and anyone who wants to feel confident in lakes and ocean water.

Not there yet? Start with Learn-to-Swim — it ends exactly where this begins.

The Curriculum

From Competent
To Efficient.

We build on the same Balance First foundation — refining what you have and adding what you don't.

01

Side Balance Position

Refine the Side Balance Position and the switch

We pick up right where Learn-to-Swim leaves off — the Side Balance Position side-float and the side-to-side switch that becomes freestyle and backstroke. Now we refine those positions until they're effortless and repeatable at speed.

02

Kick

Develop kick efficiency and stamina

We keep developing your kick — making it more efficient and building the stamina to sustain it over distance, so your legs support your stroke instead of tiring you out.

03

Arms & Hands

Shape the freestyle and backstroke pull

With the foundation solid, we work on hand and arm shape within freestyle and backstroke — the catch, the pull, the recovery — so each stroke moves more water with less effort.

04

Breaststroke

Build a real breaststroke

We develop your breaststroke to include both the arm pull and the kick — a third stroke that adds versatility and another way to rest and breathe in deep or open water.

05

Endurance

Breathe and last from every position

Throughout, we build your endurance and your ability to breathe comfortably from all of the balance positions — on your stomach, your back, and both sides — until distance stops being the limiting factor.
